The idea

Most useful processes have already been figured out by someone. Onboarding a new hire, shipping a release, running a retro, wiring up a payment flow — the shape of the thing is rarely novel. But that knowledge usually lives in one person's head, or in a diagram trapped inside a document nobody can find.

Schematic is a place to draw those processes as nodes and connections, publish them, and let other people copy and adapt them. Nobody should have to start from a blank page.

How it works

You build a schematic on a canvas: boxes for the steps, lines for what leads to what, and notes for the detail that does not fit on a box. Work is saved as you go, and every save keeps a version you can look back at.

When a schematic is ready you submit it for review. Once approved it appears in Explore, where anyone can read it, like it, save it, or fork their own copy to change.

Forking

A fork gives you the full structure of the original — every node, connection and note — as a private draft under your own account. It deliberately does not carry across anything private to the original author, such as configuration or credentials attached to automated steps. Those come across switched off and empty, for you to fill in.

Review

Everything published is reviewed by a human first. The bar is low but real: it should be a genuine attempt to describe how something works, and it should be yours to share. Drafts stay private until you submit them.

Where it is going

Schematic is early and still being built in the open. The changelog is the honest record of what has actually shipped.
